What Is VibranceGUI and How Does It Work?

VibranceGUI is a free Windows app that changes colour levels through your graphics driver. It uses NVIDIA Digital Vibrance or AMD Saturation to control how strong colours look on your screen.

You save a colour level for each game and a separate level for your desktop. The app applies the game level while that game has focus. When you switch back to the desktop, it restores your chosen desktop level.

MethodHow colour settings change
Manual driver adjustmentYou set the colour level yourself and change it when needed.
VibranceGUI automationThe app switches between saved game and desktop levels for you.

AMD also offers per-game Custom Color profiles on supported setups. Its built-in controls are not limited to one setting for the whole desktop.

The original app works offline after download. Its developer states that it does not connect to a server. This describes the original project, not every third-party fork.

System Requirements and Device Compatibility

VibranceGUI needs Windows and access to supported NVIDIA or AMD colour controls. Your graphics card, driver and screen setup affect whether it works.

Windows 10 or Windows 11 alone does not guarantee support. The original website also lists .NET Framework 4 as a requirement. The checks below reflect the project’s published guidance.

Device or platformSupport evidenceWhat to check first
Windows desktop with NVIDIA graphicsThe project documents NVIDIA support.Check for Digital Vibrance in NVIDIA Control Panel.
Windows desktop with AMD graphicsThe project documents AMD support.Check your Radeon driver and its Saturation control.
NVIDIA laptop or hybrid graphicsThe developer sources give different guidance.Check which GPU drives the screen and whether its colour controls are available.
AMD laptopThe Steam guide says AMD laptops should work.Check the exact GPU and driver. This is not a guarantee for every model.
Intel-only graphicsThe original project does not support Intel graphics.Check the graphics listed on your PC before downloading.
macOS, Linux or AndroidThe original project documents a Windows app.Do not treat its Windows download as a native app for these platforms.
Steam Deck running SteamOSThe project does not document native SteamOS support.Check the Deck’s built-in display colour settings.
Steam Deck running WindowsSupport remains unverified here.Check the Deck’s graphics driver before assuming the app will work.

The platform and GPU guidance comes from the original repository and the developer’s Steam guide.

VibranceGUI laptop compatibility needs extra care. The GitHub README says NVIDIA laptop GPUs lack support. However, the developer’s Steam guide describes a check for Digital Vibrance in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Treat that option as an initial check, not proof that every laptop will work.

SteamOS 3.5.5 introduced built-in display colour controls. Check the options available on your Deck model and SteamOS version before choosing a separate tool.

How to Set Up and Use VibranceGUI

You can learn how to use VibranceGUI by creating a game profile and checking whether the colour switch works. The process starts with extracting the ZIP file, opening the app, and adding your game.

Extract and Open the Program

Windows Explorer: right-click vibranceGUI.zip, choose Extract All, then double-click vibranceGUI.exe in the extracted folder
  1. Download the VibranceGUI ZIP file to your Windows PC.
  2. Right-click the ZIP file.
  3. Select Extract All.
  4. Choose a folder for the extracted files.
  5. Open that folder.
  6. Run vibranceGUI.exe.

Do not start the program from inside the ZIP archive. Extract the files first, then open the program from the extracted folder. The original guide gives this instruction because the app can need files stored beside the executable.

If Windows shows an error, save the complete error message. The correct fix depends on the error and the VibranceGUI build. Avoid installing random runtime files or changing driver files before checking the exact problem.

Add a Running Game

Use this method when your game is already open.

VibranceGUI: select Add, then double-click the running game process in the list
  1. Start your game.
  2. Open VibranceGUI.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Review the active process list.
  5. Double-click the correct game process.
  6. Choose the colour level for that game.
  7. Select Save.

A process is the running program that VibranceGUI watches. Check the process name and file location when several similar entries appear.

Add a Game Manually

Use this method when the game does not appear in the process list.

VibranceGUI: select Add manually, then choose the game’s main .exe file in the Open window
  1. Select Add manually in VibranceGUI.
  2. Open the folder where the game is installed.
  3. Find the game’s main executable file.
  4. Select the file and choose Accept.
  5. Set the game colour level.
  6. Save the profile.

Choose the executable that starts the game itself. A launcher, updater, or separate anti-cheat process can close before gameplay begins. Verify the correct file before using a game-specific example.

Save the Profile and Check Desktop Switching

Start with a moderate game level and keep a separate desktop level. Save the profile, open the game, and check whether the game colours change.

Switch back to the Windows desktop after the profile activates. The desktop should return to its saved colour level. Close the game and check the desktop again.

If the colour does not change, inspect the selected process and saved profile. If the desktop does not reset, review the desktop level and display selection. Do not keep increasing Saturation or Digital Vibrance to solve a game-detection problem.

This VibranceGUI how to use process helps you confirm the profile before changing more settings.

Choose Your Color and Startup Settings

VibranceGUI lets you save separate colour levels for games and the Windows desktop. The best setting depends on your graphics card, display, game and personal preference. Avoid copying one percentage from another setup.

Start with a small change. Compare the result with your normal display, then adjust it again if needed. NVIDIA Digital Vibrance and AMD Saturation do not use identical scales, so their values should not be compared as equal numbers.

System tray behaviourKeeps the app available in the background.Minimize it to the tray when you want profile switching to continue.
Saved profilesStores colour choices for different games.Save each profile after checking the selected game and display.
Monitor selectionApplies supported colour changes to a selected display.Choose the correct monitor when the build provides this option.
Resolution switchingChanges resolution when a game starts or closes.Leave it disabled unless you specifically need this separate feature.

The original project describes per-game levels, desktop restoration, tray operation, startup and saved configuration. Its Steam guide also lists optional resolution changes and selected display checks.

Keep colour adjustment and resolution switching separate. A colour profile changes how the image looks. Resolution switching changes the display mode. Changing both at once can make it harder to find the cause of an unwanted result.

Use the monitor option only when it appears in the exact build you downloaded. Menu names and available controls can differ between releases or forks. Check the selected display before saving a profile.

A good first check is simple. Open the game, compare the saved colour level with your normal view, and switch back to Windows. If the desktop looks wrong, restore the saved baseline before making another game adjustment.

Use VibranceGUI With Your Games

VibranceGUI lets you save a separate colour profile for each game. The correct setup depends on your game, graphics card and executable file. A game name in a search query does not prove that every version works in the same way.

Other supported gamesPUBG, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Rust, Tarkov, Roblox, Arc Raiders, Battlefield and Warzone may need separate process checks. Add a game only after confirming its actual executable file.Game-specific guidance may vary

Valorant and CS2 Setup

For Valorant, start the game before selecting Add in VibranceGUI. Choose the correct running process, save the colour profile and check whether the setting changes inside the game.

For CS2, follow the same process with the current CS2 executable. Test the profile from the game menu before changing additional settings. This helps you confirm that VibranceGUI is watching the correct process.

If the game does not appear in the active process list, use Add manually. Open the game installation folder, select the main executable file and save the profile. A launcher or updater may not be the file that remains active during gameplay.

You can read our Valorant guide for game-specific steps and our CS2 guide for current CS2 profile checks.

Other Games

The same profile method can work with other games when VibranceGUI can detect their active process and access the required graphics controls. The process name can change after a game update, so check the current executable before adding it manually.

Do not copy Valorant or CS2 settings into every other game. Each display, graphics card and game can show colours differently. Start with a small adjustment, compare it with the normal view and save the profile only after the result looks comfortable.

CS GO instructions on older websites should be treated as legacy information. Current CS2 users should follow instructions that match the present game version and executable.

Is VibranceGUI Safe to Download and Use?

VibranceGUI safety has two separate parts. The first is the file you download. The second is whether a particular game or anti-cheat service allows the program.

Check the Download Source

Download VibranceGUI from a source that clearly identifies the original project or repository. Check the file name, archive type and release information before opening it.

Source code availability can help you inspect the project, but it does not prove that every file shared under the same name is safe. Avoid random mirrors, modified executables and download pages that hide the file source.

Keep the downloaded ZIP file until you confirm that the extracted program opens correctly. If Windows or your security software shows a warning, read the complete message before continuing.

Understand Anti-Cheat Risk

VibranceGUI changes graphics-driver colour settings. That does not automatically mean that every game or competition service approves its use.

The developer’s older Steam guide discussed VAC and other services at that time. Historical statements do not create a current guarantee for Valorant, CS2 or every anti-cheat system.

Game rules, anti-cheat software and program versions can change. Check the current rules for the game and service you use. Do not assume that a program allowed in one game is automatically allowed in another.

A Valorant safety question shows that players have real concerns about anti-cheat permission. A community discussion can show user concern, but it is not official approval from Riot Games or another game developer.

A Safer Way to Proceed

Use the original source, keep the file details, and check the current game policy before playing. Stop if the program behaves unexpectedly, changes colours incorrectly or causes performance problems.

Our detailed VibranceGUI safety guide covers source checks, dated policy information and game-specific questions.

Does VibranceGUI Affect FPS or Input Lag?

Does VibranceGUI lower FPS? There is no single result for every computer. Many users may notice no clear FPS change, but a GitHub issue reports frametime spikes with certain newer NVIDIA drivers. That report does not prove a universal problem or confirm the cause on every PC.

FPS and input lag can also change because of the game, graphics driver, background apps, display mode or frame settings. Check these details before blaming VibranceGUI.

How to Test VibranceGUI on Your PC

Use the same game scene for both tests. Keep the resolution, graphics settings, frame limit and display mode unchanged.

  1. Close VibranceGUI completely.
  2. Open the same game area.
  3. Record the FPS and frame behaviour.
  4. Note the GPU, driver version and game version.
  5. Close the game.
  6. Start VibranceGUI and activate the same profile.
  7. Open the same game area again.
  8. Record the result under the same conditions.
Test detailRecord this information
VibranceGUI statusClosed or running
Game sceneThe same map, menu or practice area
Graphics cardExact NVIDIA or AMD model
DriverInstalled driver version
Game settingsResolution, graphics quality and frame limit
ResultFPS behaviour, stutter or input delay

A useful comparison looks for a repeatable difference. One short FPS change does not prove that VibranceGUI caused the problem.

What to Do If You Notice Stutter

First, close VibranceGUI and repeat the same test. Check whether the issue appears again with the same game scene and settings.

If the problem happens only while VibranceGUI is active, save the details before changing anything. Include the game, GPU, driver version, VibranceGUI build and exact symptom.

Do not raise or lower colour values to fix FPS or input lag. Colour settings and performance problems are different issues. A separate troubleshooting check may be needed when the result repeats.

Common Problems and Quick Checks

Start with the exact symptom before changing drivers, deleting files or reinstalling the program. A quick check can identify the correct problem and prevent unrelated changes.

SymptomFirst checkWhen more investigation is needed
The app does not openConfirm that you extracted the ZIP file. Save the full error message and check the prerequisite named by that error.Investigate the exact runtime, permission or graphics-driver issue shown in the message.
A game is missing from the listStart the game and check the active process list. If it is missing, use Add manually and select the game’s main executable.Check whether the selected file closes before gameplay or belongs to a launcher instead.
Both NVIDIA and AMD are detectedRecord the GPU setup and identify which graphics card controls the display.Review the driver conflict with the exact hardware and app build. Do not delete random Windows driver files.
Initialization does not completeConfirm that the graphics driver provides the colour control required by VibranceGUI. Save the complete error message.Check the graphics card, driver version, laptop routing and current program build.
Desktop colours do not returnCheck the saved desktop level, selected monitor and active game profile. Close the app and compare the desktop again.Investigate a reported reset problem with the exact build and display setup.
Monitor or resolution changes unexpectedlyCheck the selected display and review optional resolution settings. Disable resolution switching if you do not need it.Record the monitor, refresh rate, resolution and game mode before testing further.

Do not disable antivirus software as a general fix. Do not delete Windows DLL files, force unsupported refresh rates or bypass game protection. These actions can create new problems and do not explain every VibranceGUI error.

The correct fix depends on the exact error, GPU, driver, Windows version and VibranceGUI build. Save these details before asking for help or applying a detailed fix.

For error-specific fixes, see our VibranceGUI not-working guide. It covers detailed checks for launch errors, missing games, initialization problems and display issues.

Reset Colors or Remove VibranceGUI

Removing VibranceGUI does not always restore the colour level you used before. First restore a known desktop setting, then stop the app from starting with Windows and remove its extracted files.

Restore Your Previous Color Settings

If you saved your normal Windows colour level, open VibranceGUI and apply that level to the desktop. Check the selected monitor before saving the setting.

Close the game and return to the Windows desktop. Confirm that the colours look normal before removing the program.

Deleting VibranceGUI alone does not explain which colour level Windows or your graphics driver is using. If the colours remain incorrect, check the display settings in your NVIDIA or AMD control panel and restore a setting you recognise.

Persistent colour problems have been reported by some users. These reports show why a reset check belongs in the guide, but they do not prove that every computer will have the same problem.

Stop Automatic Startup and Remove the Files

If you enabled automatic startup, open VibranceGUI and turn off its startup option first. Close the program completely after saving the change.

VibranceGUI is commonly distributed as an extracted ZIP package. In that case, there may be no traditional uninstall program. After the app closes, remove the extracted VibranceGUI folder if you no longer need it.

An installer-based build can use a different removal process. Check the package you downloaded before deleting anything.

Saved profiles may remain in the program folder or in a separate settings location. Keep a backup if you may use VibranceGUI again. Remove those settings only when you want a fresh setup.

Do not delete NVIDIA or AMD driver files, Windows DLL files or unrelated system folders. These files belong to your graphics system and are not a normal part of how to uninstall VibranceGUI.

This VibranceGUI uninstall process also explains how to remove Vibrance GUI without confusing app files with graphics-driver files.

Versions, Updates and Source Code

Check the release type before updating VibranceGUI. A version number alone does not show whether a build is stable, a pre-release or an older branch.

The download section above contains the current file details. This section explains the available release types and their differences.

ChannelVerified identifierSource typeImportant note
Current downloadVersion shown on the selected fileOriginal project download recordUse the same version and file details shown in the download section.
Pre-releasev2.5.0Public project release recordThis build is labelled as a pre-release. Do not describe it as stable.
Historical CS GO branchVibranceGUI Version 1Older project download entryThis branch was made for CS GO only. Treat its instructions as legacy material.
Source codeOriginal VibranceGUI repositoryPublic source-code recordSource code and modified forks should be treated as separate projects.

How to Check for Updates

Check the release name, version label and file details before replacing your current copy. Keep a backup of your existing settings if you may need to restore them.

A modified fork can contain different code, settings or support claims. Do not describe an independent fork as an official VibranceGUI update.

A search such as VibranceGUI 2023 does not prove that a new release exists for that year. Confirm the actual release information before adding a year to a title or download description.

The keyword VibranceGUI GitHub can refer to source code, a release record or a modified fork. Check the exact project identity before downloading.

The keyword VibranceGUI beta usually refers to a testing build. Keep it clearly labelled as a pre-release because its features can change.

Alternatives When Your Setup Is Not Supported

If VibranceGUI does not work with your graphics hardware, you can still adjust display colours through built-in driver or system settings. The best option depends on your GPU, operating system and need for automatic game profiles.

OptionBest forAutomation level
NVIDIA Digital VibranceWindows users with a supported NVIDIA graphics cardUsually manual unless another trusted tool manages game profiles
AMD Custom ColorAMD users who need saturation and display colour controlsCan support global settings and supported per-game profiles
Built-in Windows display controlsUsers who need basic brightness and colour changesLimited game-specific automation
Monitor controlsUsers whose screen provides colour presets or saturation optionsManual control through the monitor menu
SteamOS display controlsSteam Deck users running SteamOSBuilt into the operating system, with no VibranceGUI installation required

NVIDIA Digital Vibrance changes the intensity of desktop colours through NVIDIA Control Panel. AMD Custom Color provides colour controls through AMD Software on supported systems. These options can look similar, but they do not provide the same profile features or automation.

Steam Deck users running SteamOS should first check the built-in display colour settings. This route is separate from running a Windows utility on the device.

Choose a native control when you only need one general colour setting. Choose a profile-based tool when you need different levels for different games. Check the software source before installing any alternative program.

Do not download an unknown executable only because it promises stronger colours or automatic switching. Check its project identity, release information and supported hardware first.

For a wider comparison, read our VibranceGUI alternatives guide. You can also learn how native driver controls work in our Digital Vibrance guide.

Conclusion

VibranceGUI is useful for Windows users who want separate colour profiles for their games and desktop. Before downloading it, check your graphics card, driver and display setup to confirm that the required colour controls are available.

If your computer supports the app, use the verified download and follow the setup steps above. If your hardware does not support it, use the native NVIDIA, AMD or SteamOS colour controls available on your device.
